​The international conference of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO)

The international conference of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) was held in the Beijing Hotel Minsk on 30 May – 1 June.

The seminar is supposed to allow sharing the best international practices in operating nuclear power plants for the sake of reaching the highest safety and reliability standards. Specialists discussed support for new power-generating units, safe nuclear practices, licensing, personnel training, and other matters. Participants of the conference visited the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant on 1 June.

Taking part in the event were WANO experts from Russia, the UK, France, Hungary, Japan, China, Pakistan, Finland, the UAE and other countries as well as IAEA representatives.

WANO unites all the operators of nuclear power plants (a total of about 450 power-generating units). The organization is intent on improving the safe operation of all the nuclear power plants in the world.
